the Minor League American Association All Star game was held in Kansas City on July 19, 1939, for the Kansas City Bues having the best record in the league. The Blues faced an all-star team made up of the rest of the league. An American Association All Star Game record crowd of 16,521 attended the game.

MLB All Star Game was held at Municipal Stadium in Kansas City, with the National League winning 5-3.  The game was played during a Monday afternoon, in the swerltering heat.   Of the 59 All Stars at this game, 16 would go on to be in the MLB Hall of Fame.  Close to 31,000 fans were in attendance.  There were TWO All Star games this year, with the other at Yankee Stadium.

      Bo was the lead off hitter and hit the second pitch 448 feet for a homer to start the game.  He became the second man to homer and steal a base in the same All Star game, joining Willie Mays.  Bo Jackson of the KC Royals was the All Star Game MVP and lead all players in the number of votes.
